I’ve decided to quit doing ‘Kōrero Poto’

He mihi nui ki a koutou, e ngā kaipānui i tēnei rangitaki. Warm greetings to all of you readers of this blog.

I’ve decided to discontinue ‘Kōrero Poto’ in its present form. I’ve been increasingly uncomfortable with the (self-imposed) feeling of pressure to produce these particular kinds of posts. It’s quite a public thing, and I was feeling uncomfortable with that too. Also, to be honest, as time goes on I’m feeling less confident about my own reo Māori skills as well.

I hope these posts have been useful to some people, and I’ll leave the ones I’ve done up here in the meantime. I expect to continue to deal with reo Māori issues on a more informal basis on this site. I will still teach te reo Māori to beginner and intermediate learners, and will speak te reo Māori myself with friends and colleagues, and encourage others to do so too.

Nō reira … tēnei te kaupapa ka whakamoea – tihei mauri ora!
